Building on the rapport of longtime partnerships, this album moves across the gamut of jazz styles, from ballads to burners to free jazz; from Monk to Billy Eckstine to originals. Special guests enhance the “continuum” theme of passing on music across generations, including 17-year-old alto sensation Devante Dunbar and 87-year-old seasoned veteran vocalist Ed Reed, as well as former Jones student Ambrose Akinmusire on trumpet and Malian musician Mamadou Sidibe.
